The small and medium-sized enterprises in Niedersachsen, employing less than 500 people, are often very innovative. They are the economy's driving force and determine the economic structure of the state.

Approx. 57 percent of all employees work in companies with a total of less than 500 employees. The other 43 percent work in one of approx. 150 large-scale enterprises. Statistics show that small and medium-sized enterprises generate about 45 percent of the total revenue earned by Niedersachsen-based companies.
